Men and women who already have well-defined body shapes benefit the most. The procedure is less effective for patients with fat deposits that are several cm thick. The operation should also not be performed immediately after major weight loss. Then no natural-looking, convincing result can be expected. Before liposuction, the contours of the areas that will later appear as a typical six-pack are marked with lines. We now remove the fat between these marked areas using thin suction cannulas, after the collagen fibers have been stimulated to shrink using a SMART-LIPO technique. Well-defined ridges remain that deceptively resemble the typical washboard stomach. In most cases, we perform the procedure under local anesthesia. Only in exceptional cases, for example for very sensitive patients, do we sometimes recommend deep twilight sleep, which is monitored by an experienced anesthetist. The procedure takes 1-2 hours and leaves minimal scarring.

Like any surgical procedure, six-pack modeling involves certain risks - but it usually goes without complications. Swelling may occasionally occur after the operation, but the wound usually heals smoothly. For optimal results, the patient must wear a type of compression garment for several weeks, but is able to return to work after a few days.
